The work that led to the founding of the Nicoya Peninsula Blue Zone Association began around 2004, when efforts were launched to provide assistance and support to older adults in the five cantons of the Nicoya Peninsula. This initiative provided a firsthand understanding of the realities and needs of many older adults in the region.<\/p>

During that process, we also participated in the CRELES study (Costa Rica: Study of Longevity and Healthy Aging), a scientific research project aimed at understanding the reasons behind longevity in Costa Rica, with a particular focus on the Nicoya Peninsula, which is recognized worldwide as a Blue Zone.\u00a0<\/p>

With more than two decades of experience, we have had the opportunity to support nearly 900 long-lived individuals in the region. To strengthen this work and continue improving their quality of life, the Nicoya Peninsula Blue Zone Association was formally established in 2017.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

To be a nonprofit organization that provides ongoing, comprehensive support to vulnerable centenarians and nonagenarians in the Blue Zone of the Nicoya Peninsula, with the aim of improving their quality of life. Additionally, to actively contribute to the advancement of research on longevity and healthy aging in the region and to promote educational programs aimed at younger generations.<\/span> <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
